Alice in Wonderland chapter 8 心得

Previously I said that I like to read books, but I have to admit that "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Caroll was a quite tough one.

When reading the book, I have to be really concentrated because sometimes I get lost in those nonsense black lines.

However I like the chapter VII "A Mad Tea-Party" where the March Hare, the Hatter and the Dormouse are stuck in time.

I like the personification of the time,

In this chapter, they described Time as someone quite strict and who asked for being respected.
If we don't respect it, he is going to punished us.

But in real life, are we really punished by time?
We usually say that we don't have any time, or if I have time I will do it.
Sometimes it is like we are being controlled by the time.

We usually take time as granted and when we grow up and look back,
we started to realized all the time loss by procrastination or by doing nothing meaningless.
Started to feel regret and trying to catch up the time.
It that a kind of punishment?

Have you ever heard of the proverb "Revenge is a dish best served cold"?
It means that it is best to take your revenge when the person is not aware of it and doesn't see it coming when it happens.
The dish being cold means that we have waited from when it was hot.
it's implied Time.
Is time taking his revenge then?

We can't see the time, but we can feel the effect on it on our body or on our environment, or maybe
or our feelings "Time heals all wounds".
If we take advantage of the time, we can make it an advantage.

Throughout I think Time plays a really important role in this chapter,
Because to be honest, we are living in a society who wants us to be productive and wants fast results. We are being unconsciously being controlled by it.

In addition, the chapter seven seems to be full of nonsense dialogue and unanswerable riddles.
The Hatter who was the one who asked Alice "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?" doesn't even know the answer.

Alice who expected him to know the answer is disappointed in the end.
Growing up doesn't mean being an adult, I think adult is just a word
but not one is really an adult.

When I was young I thought that reaching 20 is being an adult,
But as I am in my 20's, I feel like deep inside me I am still little child.
Who is still afraid of the outside world, afraid of having responsibilities, afraid of relationships.

I think Alice doesn't have to be disappointed or disillusioned about the adult world,
because even Adults are as confused as she is.

I think that those dialogues represented well the society in where we are living in.
Just a confused one, when nothing really makes sense.

In conclusion, I have to say that even if "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" gave me a hard time, I quite enjoyed it.
